Urban Flosarus “Playing anything with a Groove from Louis Armstrong to The Roots”
Increased Awareness of the Independent Artist / Band has coincided with the growth of the Internet and its surrounding technologies over the last 15 years. The technological growth has been both a blessing and a curse. The blessing is in the explosion of opportunity for artists to record and promote their music on their own terms, without the need for big budgets, or a traditional record deal. The curse is in that same opportunity: so many people have taken advantage of these options, that the perception between the true artist and the star struck imitator is blurred. Radio today still leads the way as a top media source for the average listener to hear what is popular, and millions are trying to break their way on to the airways. In 2010, already in the midst of a decade plus recording and production career, Anthony “Moose Harris” Daniels stumbled into a new opportunity for himself, and hundreds of other Artists and Bands.
In April of 2010, while on a networking trip to the studios of KSCL 91.3 FM (Centenary College Radio) in Shreveport, Louisiana, Daniels was randomly asked if he would like to create and host his own Radio Show. Daniels said “yes” before even thinking about it! His Radio Career started in 2004, as an on-air reporter for the Award Winning Ken Trahan Louisiana High School Football Scoreboard Show, on WGSO, New Orleans, the largest show of its kind in the state. He was currently doing Board Operation, and was a supporting on-air cast member of Fox and Company, the Award Winning afternoon radio show on KNBB ESPN 97.7, Ruston, Louisiana, the largest sports radio station in the state. Daniels soon developed the idea of producing and hosting a show that was Hip-Hop based, but not Hip-Hop only. His Multi-genre discography (Jazz, Classical, R&B, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Ska, Rock, Gospel), and achieved status as a Motown Historian, allowed him to have an open and understandable mind when it comes to song selection, and his outgoing personality allowed easy access to connect to listeners without seeing them. And so, after the finishing of the summer semester on Centenary’s campus, Urban Flosarus hit the airwaves for the first time on August 18, 2010 at 10pm. Read the rest of this entry →
