YEAR OF NO LIGHT Announce Sophomore Album Details

October 27, 2011 in News by TMC

YEAR OF NO LIGHT’s atmospheric, slow-burning, spacious anthems have been heralded as unique and of a more pure pedigree than the herds of bland post-rock clones roaming around, and the band have amassed an extremely loyal fanbase over recent years. Through constant live performances across Europe and their beautifully crafted, powerful recordings — including previous split/compiled releases with Nadja, Souvenir’s Young America, Rosetta, East of the Wall and countless others, as well as their critically acclaimed Nord full-length — YEAR OF NO LIGHT has become one of the most recognized names of the genre.

The band’s next offering has been completed, in the form of their upcoming full-length release Ausserwelt, and if their previous recordings didn’t convince you, this album will surely emphasize the band’s importance to you. To be released April 26th on Conspiracy Records (LP version on Music Fear Satan), Ausserwelt is a bellowing, vibrant explosion of crushing but airy riffs, which explores more scathing and cerebral atmospheres than ever before over the course of its four extensive passages.

Check out the album art, live footage and more here: http://www.earsplitcompound.com/site/?p=441.

The band will be on tour in Europe later this month alongside Altar Of Plagues, including an appearance at Poland’s Asymmetry Fest alongside Dark Castle, Kylesa, Shrinebuilder and more.

LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR Launch Record Label

October 18, 2011 in News by TMC

LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR Emerging from the caustic burrows of Chicago comes the monolith of metal known as LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR, a sonic “fuck you” to the current trends and sub-genres of metal who carry the torch of metal’s roots (Celtic Frost, Slayer, Motorhead) with a death breath of fresh air, and spitting gas on the flames.

The Greek mythology-inspired carnage continues on LOTM’s upcoming fourth full-length, Evil Power. The CD and digital download will be released on April 13, 2010 on The Grind-House Records, an independent record label started by Steve Rathbone, Chris Wozniak (both from LOTM) and Josh Diebel (former head of Alleysweeper Records). The record will be distributed by Southern Lord Records, who have released the band’s previous three albums on CD and vinyl, two EPs and DVD.

Evil Power lays all in its path to waste with an approach as heavy as the Kraken, while showing off the band’s heavy rock and punk influences. A deluxe LP version will be released in late summer 2010, featuring a bonus track not available on CD or digital download. Check out the Scott Jackson cover art, and hear the track “We Are Hades” at the band’s MySpace page now: http://www.myspace.com/lairoftheminotaur.

AOSOTH Ashes of Angels

October 16, 2011 in News by TMC

AOSOTH France’s AOSOTH formed as a side-project of MkM, of the essential French black metal horde Antaeus. While Antaeus sets boundaries for their grinding black metal, AOSOTH delivers more dissonant 90s death metal elements to their brew of extreme sound, with the melding of influences from both MkM and his cohort BST (ex-Aborted, Balrog, etc.)

AOSOTH’s previous works – which include a split with Antaeus, a split with (now labelmates) Temple of Baal, a full-length on Total Holocaust and an LP on The Ajna Offensive – have been quoted by the media to be in the vein of Anteus, Craft, Grave and more.

TEMPLE OF BAAL The third shredding release from highly respected French black metal act TEMPLE OF BAAL, Lightslaying Rituals sets a new precedent for the band.
