Straight Shooter Band Oklahoma Top Variety Band

July 8, 2012 in News by TMC

| Website | Facebook |

Straight Shooter, a country and rock band from Oklahoma was formed in July 1996 by the Duggins Brothers.

They played small clubs until they got their first break and landed the house band job at the Cimmaron a country show case in Oklahoma City . Playing there they entertained as many 1500 people a week with their shows , humor and original music. Wanda Jackson ( Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ) spent her birthday there watching the guys just like the half million others who came from all over the country every week for seven years.

After releasing a successful CD the band hit the road playing venues all over the southwestern united states. They are still based out of Oklahoma City ands still going strong.

Dr. Bud Kurtz is a professor at OCU and sings lead and plays guitar and mandolin. A prolific recording artist Bud has shared the stage with members of the Blues Brothers, BB Kings Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Alice Cooper, ZZ Top and countless well known Texas and Oklahoma musicians. He has a three octave range and sings songs most bands can’t. He is also a virtuoso guitar player and the bands rock and roll guitar god.

Mike Duggins is a medical technician and plays acoustic guitar, keyboards and sings lead .Jim and Mike Duggins have been playing music since they were old enough to stand, and trace deep musical roots to their cousin the great music star, Conway Twitty. Mike has a smooth baritone voice that gives an authentic flavor to the country songs he sings and adds a bottom to the bands three part harmonies. He may know the words to every country song ever written .

Charlie “Hotrod” Hutson plays drums and percussion Charlie has been a DJ for KEBC and has drummed for many top bands throughout the years. Charlie is the bands engine and probably it’s hardest working member. He arrives early and is the last to leave. If you have a problem he is the fixer. He is also a great announcer with a DJ voice if needed.

Dave Tichenor has played behind many well known artists and is a member of the Oklahoma Porsche Club. He probably drives too fast but his bass playing is right on time. Dave has a huge voice and sings rock like it was meant to be sung.

Jim Duggins has a degree in pharmacy from SWOSU. He plays lead guitar and sings back up. He is a country picker with no equal. Jim is in a state of semi-retirement from performing but continues to play a few gigs and does the booking and scheduling. Call him to book the band and to talk with a musical treasure. Jennifer Brantley

Jennifer Brantley Jennifer Brantley releasing uncut, unrecorded Hank Williams, Sr. and Glenn Douglas Tubb co-written song titled “Heartbroken, Forsaken and Alone

Jennifer Brantley is digitally releasing an uncut, unrecorded Hank Williams, Sr. and Glenn Douglas Tubb co-written song titled “Heartbroken, Forsaken and Alone,” before releasing her new EP CD, The Little Things.

The story behind the song began when Glenn was approached in 1958 by Hank’s first wife, Audrey, who told him that she had found some old lyrics of Hanks that he never finished writing.  She asked Glenn, who was a big fan of Hanks, to finish writing the lyrics and to come up with a Hank Williams’ style melody for the song.  Although Glenn was young at the time, he had already written songs for Johnny Cash, Kitty Wells, Ernest Tubb, Hawkshaw Hawkins, and others.  George Jones had just taken two of Glenn’s songs to record.  But the main reasons Audrey chose Glenn were because she knew that Glenn sang a lot of Hank’s songs on his personal appearances and that he would probably come closer to finishing the song as Hank would have wanted.  Glenn waited until he had written more songs for Johnny Cash, George Jones, Bob Dylan, Tammy Wynette, Tennessee Ernie and many others before he attempted to finish writing the song Hank had started.  In 1974, he was living in Tucson, Arizona, when he completed the song and mailed it to Acuff-Rose, Hank’s publisher.  He sent them a copy of the original Hank Williams lyrics along with a demo of the song.  They had the handwriting checked by a hand writing expert, who concluded that it was indeed Hank William’s handwriting.  In June of 1974, Fred Rose Music issued a publishing contract on the song, showing the writers as Hank Williams and Glenn D. Tubb.   Before Glenn moved back to Nashville, Audrey died in November of 1975.  He doesn’t know if Audrey ever heard the finished product.  After Glenn returned to Nashville, he went to Acuff-Rose and had a meeting about the song.  Because of some disagreements, the song was essentially buried until now.

Tim Big Hoss Andrews I am just your typical 6’5″ 300 lb. Stand-Up Comic, Singer / Song Writer who loves fresh air and wide open spaces.depending on where they are of course. I grew up in Doylestown, OH but had to leave because of Urban Sprawl when I heard they were getting a stoplight. I now live in the thriving Metropolis of Litchfield, OH. You may have noticed it on the map.

It’s where the Mason-Dixon Line takes a hard right North then runs scared back South again. The back yard is trees and the front is a cornfield. It’s a great place for my wife and I to raise our 4 beautiful kids. I’ve done a little bit of everything in my life. I’ll pretty much try anything once.but I think it’s safe to say that you won’t see me in any dancing competitions anytime soon.

Suite Caroline 11  year old Suite Caroline is an amazing musical talent. Some even call her a prodigy, because of her astounding songwriting and guitar playing abilities.  She has been compared to singer/songwriters like Sheryl Crow, Colbie Caillat, and Taylor Swift.  Suite Caroline has her own musical style, which tends to focus on positive messages and can be described as a  blend of folk/pop/country and rock.  She’s a story-teller, and a really good one no matter what her age.

About a year ago she presented her first CD and is now preparing to share 14 more songs with the world.  She has performed on stage with Pat Benatar and the GoGo’s and sung live with Sheryl Crow.  She has played shows at the Hard Rock in Orlando and performed by invitation in Los Angeles for Martin Guitars.

Restless Heart

July 23, 2011 in Country/Western by TMC

Genre: Country
Website: http://www.restlessheartband.com

Restless Heart The harmonies are pure silver, polished to a high sheen.  And, as easily as silver conducts electricity, their music has electrified audiences around the world.  Legendary country music group, Restless Heart, is celebrating over 25 years of perfecting the art of entertaining.

Restless Heart came together in late 1983 as the by-product of a project by famed writer/producer Tim Dubois. He soon brought to the team fellow Oklahoman Scott Hendricks to co-produce and engineer the recording project which quickly lead to a record deal.  Restless Heart signed a recording contract with RCA Records in 1984.

With the release of their first album in 1985, the vocal style of Restless Heart became instantly identifiable – an intertwining five part harmony led by Larry Stewart, with Dave Innis on keyboards, Greg Jennings on lead guitar, Paul Gregg on bass and drummer, John Dittrich. They brought a new, contemporary sound to Nashville, a sound with a touch of pop – the sound which so strongly influences popular country acts of today like Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts and Little Big Town.

Gold became the standard for the group with the release of their self-titled album. Three more gold albums followed between 1986 and 1991. With an additional six albums released through the years, Restless Heart put 26 hits on the country charts with six #1 hits and nine others in the Top Ten. Cross-over success, rare in the music world, was also theirs with six songs making the adult contemporary charts, including taking the #1, #2 and #3 spots.

Having grown and endured challenges through the years, after a brief hiatus, the spark was re-ignited, bringing all 5 original members together again in the new millennium, putting Restless Heart back on the road.   Their first real gig as a reunited group was the 2002 Operation Season’s Greetings Tour, an overseas military entertainment tour with the Air Force. They haven’t stopped touring since, averaging more than 100 shows per year, including an around-the-world military tour in 2007.

Today, driven by the musical force which brought them together over 25 years ago and tempered by experience, Restless Heart continues to thrill old and new fans by doing what they do best- appreciating their audiences and having a good time making great music!
